Privacy policy

What this site collects when you read it, what it does not, and what you can ask us to do about any of it.

Last updated

The short version. You do not register. We run no ads. We sell nothing about you to anybody. What we have is ordinary analytics, our host's server logs, and whatever you choose to put in an email to us.

Who we are

wctoindia.com is run by HexxGen Digital, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, and written by Nav and Vandana Sharma. For anything on this page, write to hello@wctoindia.com.

What happens when you read a page

You are not asked to give us anything, and there is no form on this site to give it to. Two things happen on their own.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which do not. It sets cookies and records the pages you view, roughly where you are (worked out from your IP address, not from your device location), your device and browser, and how you arrived, such as from a search result or another site.

We look at this as counts and trends. We do not try to work out who you are from it, and we never combine it with anything else to do so. Google processes this data as our processor and under its own terms.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs: the IP address a request came from, the time, the page, and the browser string. These exist so that the site can be kept running and protected from abuse. We do not use them to build a picture of individual readers.

Cookies this site sets

CookieWhat it is forHow long
_gaGoogle Analytics. Tells one browser apart from another so visits can be counted.Up to 2 years
_ga_*Google Analytics. Keeps the state of a single visit.Up to 2 years

That is the whole list. There is no advertising cookie, no social widget and no consent banner selling your choices on to a hundred vendors.

You can refuse or delete these in your browser settings at any time, and the site will work exactly as before. Google also publishes a browser add-on that turns Analytics off everywhere, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Google Search Console

We use Search Console to see which searches bring people here. It sets nothing on this site and collects nothing from you here. What it shows us comes from Google, already added up, with no individual attached to it.

What this site does not load

Every font, image, stylesheet and script here is served from our own domain. Reading a page makes no request to Google Fonts, to a content delivery network, to a comment service or to a social network. The analytics script described above is the one outside request a page makes.

If you email us

We keep your message and your address so that we can reply, and so that we have a record of a correction and when it was made. We do not add you to a mailing list. There is no mailing list. We do not pass your address to anybody.

Affiliate links

There are no affiliate links on this site today. If we add them, the merchant you click through to may set its own cookie on its own site. We will describe that here and change the date at the top of this page when it happens. How we make money is set out on the disclaimer page.

Children

This site is written for adults planning travel. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

What you can ask us for

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. In practice, for almost every reader, the answer is that we hold nothing except analytics counts that are not tied to you.

If you have written to us, we hold that email. Ask and we will delete it, unless it records a correction we have published, in which case we will tell you that and remove your address from it.

Write to hello@wctoindia.com. If we cannot help you, we will say why rather than ignore it.

Changes to this page

When what we do changes, this page changes and the date at the top moves. We do not edit it quietly. If that date looks old to you, it means nothing here has changed since then.
